My archives might be a little outdated especially the older blogs. My links above are all new and current.

I have only positive things to say about Permission to Mother, an autobiographical account of a thoughtful mother and clinician who courageously writes from her heart, soul, brain, and personal experience; who is open to change in her views and opinions and is not guided by the safety of rules of any group or the status quo; she is guided by love and openness to the experiences life brings her and her family. Her process benefits her and those around her and those who read her words. And to add to that, the writing style and story telling ability here make it a very enjoyable read speckled with both the humor and seriousness of life. ~Laura Keegan RN FNP, author of Breastfeeding with Comfort and Joy

Permission to Mother Give-Away

Because I am always so serious on my blog, to lighten it up a bit, I'm having a giveaway of awesome goodies (if I can keep up, I'll do it again). It'll be a matter of simply responding to a question or leaving a comment in order to have your name entered into a drawing to win.

For this first drawing, I'm giving away a complementary Permission to Mother book (take a look at it here) and all you have to do is simply answer the following question in the comment section of this blog. I'll enter every one's name who answered the question into a drawing and announce the winner on my blog next Monday. Comments need to be received before Sunday at 8:00 pm. I'll mail it to you if you are outside my county, otherwise I'll hold it for you at the office. Everyone is eligible, even if you already own a copy. They make a good present for the holidays, birthday, or new baby. You need to be available on Monday to give me delivery information if you are out of town.

Are you ready? I'm really excited about this...

A very easy Question:
How did you first hear about my blog?

Ummm where did I first hear about your blog? I'm pretty sure I came across it when you commented on green smoothie girls blog. You had me at "Permission" ;)

When you were just a little girl you wanted to grow up and be a Dr. and a writer.....I think you might have mentioned the blog back then. You just had to wait for the internet to be invented.

Great idea.....you are also creative.

I heard about your blog on mothering.com forums, I was lurking in the Florida forum (because I grew up in Pembroke Pines) & reading through a post of Dr Reccomendations. Got to the blog & loved it so you are on my blogroll now!

Good question...I THINK it was from a comment on Alanna's blog or maybe from your website....

Honestly, I can't remember how I first came across it, although I do remember being quite excited when I did. I remember reading your footling birth story a while back in an issue of Midwifery Today or The Birthkit.

Smartie Pants, Since you have so many copies of my book, you can have a give-away on your blog, too. :)

That reminded me, last time, we were at Mom's, David saw all my books in her draw and he said to me, "Look, your mother bought your book!"

fitncrafty said...

Maybe I will... Next MONTH!! :)

I linked to it from your office page :)

Oh...I want to win...

Heard about you via the famous rockstar's wife. And I have to say, your name "PTM" has always made me smile.

Trish Chibas said...

Hey....what if we comment twice? Does our name go in the drawing twice? Just kidding. You sure are getting alot of comments. Everyone loves PTM!!! I think it's time for me to take my book out and start reading it again so I can stay focused on how I want my delivery to be.

Back in my early birth-junkie days (about 4 years ago), I came across something you had written in which you talked about your OB rotation in med school. I had saved it, and came across it about the time I started blogging. I read it again and looked online to see what else I could find about you, since you didn't have the ordinary medical doctor mentality, but were actually pro-natural birth, etc. And I found your blog. The rest is history! :-)

I am one of your patients, we started talking, one thing led to another, and then wham, you convinced me to blog as well...who knew?!

I originally found your blog while searching for information about going sugar free. I've also found very helpful information on babywearing and breastfeeding that have been encouraging to me over the last year. Our daughter (2nd child) will be one in a couple weeks.

I was sent the link in email by a friend who thought I might like the blog.

I found your blog via a Google search on reflux babies and Zantac. I read through a few of your posts and became intrigued enough to read your book (which I had requested our local library to purchase). There are five blogs that I read on a daily basis and this is one of them.

I first heard about your blog on www.twofloridadocs.com. I found the website on the back of a LLL flyer last November. :)

Wow! It's really cool seeing all your comments and where you found me.

My Footling Breech story, "It's Toes" was in Birthkit.

My Reflections of my Obstetric Training story was my first article published with MW Today and the only one actually in the big Midwifery Today. There is a PTM book review in the current issue.

Versions of both articles are on my twofloridadocs.com site and have been merged into PTM-the book.

Natacha, thanks for adding yourself to the followers list. I like that. You thinking about joining blogspot yet? :)

I like reading (and being reminded) of where everyone else's referral came from. Thanks.

I came across your blob when I was looking for information regarding breastfeeding and then I realized I was related to you and that you are my cousin who I truly admire.

I'll be really honest - I don't remember where I found you =) I read a lot of pregnancy/birth/breastfeeding blogs because that's where my passion lies. I want to say one of the other bloggers had a link over to you or I followed you from the comments on someone's post.

I've been saving up my pennies to buy a copy of your book down the road. I even have it on my amazon wishlist =) I would be thrilled to receive a copy... so I'm really keeping my fingers crossed on this one!

I found your website through yahoo searching for breastfeeding and fort pierce when I was around 6 months pregnant. I think I was online that night for several hours reading your website. About the same time, I heard more about you through the local La Leche League (they give you major thumbs up!)

I was totally thrilled to find you, I couldn't wait until I was far enough along in my pregnancy to become your patient. You told me about your blog during one of my prenatal visits. Remember those? Alex was breech and I scared of a c-section and kept staring at your picture of David coming out feet first.

Natacha said...

Well..........I sure am :)
I keep thinking about the many ways it has blessed me to stay connected to you guys through your blogs and It would be nice to bless back with a piece of me ;)
So stay tuned........

Denise, I first heard about your book from YOU! You beat me to writing one. PTM is an excellent read for new and experienced mothers. Although you have laid the groundwork for me multiple times to check blogs more freqently, I still have not logged in. I rely on you to prod me. Thanks for your friendship!

Ooh! A complimentary book! Actually that's how I found your blog. I was reading about your book on another blog and wondered, "Hmm I wonder if that author has a blog." So I searched for you. I've been meaning to buy your book for some time now. It'd be great to get a complimentary copy. :) I've read all I can from the amazon.com "Look inside this book" page.

Permission to Mother said...

Trish-- I hope you do read PTM again. I wrote it from so many different perspectives, now that you are in another phase/pregnancy, I think you would get a different message out of it. Let me know if I am right. :)

Christie--Did you find the breastfeeding information you needed. I hope breastfeding worked out for you!

Karen--This blog "is" my community now. I miss having a formal doula group and ICAN. I hardly have time to go out in real life. LLL is very active around here. I am not sure if any other local birth/bf groups are meeting. I am a hermit.

Gentledoula--Well, I've long given up seeing you on the blog However, I am sure happy to see you in my "followers" section. :) Recently, I found out how to email up to 10 people each individual blog I post. It was tempting to add you, but I thought I'd better respectfully ask you first. I can fill an inbox really fast.

I may just add you know.

Everyone,
I am going to post about the divinecaroline.com award next. Would all of you mind clicking on the award button on my navbar. Come back later to check out my post about that award.

Thanks everyone for posting your answers!!

I believe that you, my dear, informed me of your blog! If I remember right, you were doing myspace first?

Since I haven't been able to get my hands on a copy of your book to check it out, I'm crossing my fingers and hoping my name gets pulled outta the hat!

I learned about your blog from your twofloridadocs.com website. I had the privilege of visiting your office when my second daughter was 9 months old and I was expecting my third. It was such a relief to speak to a medical professional who didn't look at me cross eyed because I used natural family planning, was nursing through my pregnancy and planned to tandem nurse. We moved to New York and I cyber stalked your office for a while, reading you articles for encouragement! That's how I found your blog. We've found a great supportive pediatrician, but you are the one who really started me on my natural birthing, tandem nursing, babywearing, cloth diapering path! Flattery over. ;-)

Nella! I remember you:

This post is in your likeness! You encouraged me to write about low milk supply in pregnancy.

Wow I barely made it here! I have become an official slog (my own blog lingo meaning a slacker of the blog world) these days! I actually had to really think hard to remember the details on hearing about your blog although I knew the obvious was that I heard it from you. But after thinking it through I remembered that you started the blog in aniticipation of your book being published and available for purchase and I heard from you / read in the twofloridadocs newsletter that you would be starting and maintaining your blog somewhat in conjunction with Permission to Mother.
Although I am lucky enough to already have a few copies of the book (one even signed yippee for me!) I would have a great time finding the perfect person to gift a new copy to if I were to win the drawing!
This is fun I like your new idea!
