If it gets taken out to the compost pile quickly it isn't a problem. <BR/><BR/>In regards to turning, I turn mine to keep the fruit on the bottom and the leaves and dirt on top. If I leave the fruit on top, ants will come and I don't really care for that.<BR/><BR/>You are becoming quiet the resource for great information. I still have fruit flies inside the house. I set up the compost at the office today. I used Lauren's hay at the bottom, next shredded paper. The stuff that goes into this one will be a lot different than at home. It will be interesting to see. I'll post about that one another time. I am going to edit this original post to include links to Lauren's ans Cris' compost posts. I brought some fresh fruit over to Sharon recently and cut it up there (and I don't cut fruit for just anyone!) and her mother took it out to the compost! <BR/><BR/>Cris- I dumped all little pots of kitchen scraps into the compost. Does that count as turning? Probably not. There is plenty of shredded paper and hay from Lauren in there topping it now! O probably need to mix it. I know some suggestions are to pick up people's yard waste that they have left on the curb. <BR/>We had some nasty fly problems for a while, with lots of maggots.
